The provincial health authority stated in a media release on Thursday, May 7, 2020, “With the outbreak in the Lloydminster Hospital stable, Lloydminster may proceed with plans to open services and businesses as described in Phase 1 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan starting Monday, May 11.

“Services and businesses will be required to follow the phased approach and safety procedures required under the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.”

Residents must continue to follow necessary personal protective measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, including maintaining physical distancing, participating in no gatherings more than 10 people, washing hands frequently, among other hygiene practices.

Opening is at the discretion of the workplace, based on risk assessment and ability to operate safely, protecting staff and customers.

“We are pleased with the enhanced communication from the Government of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority and look forward to restoring services in our community in alignment with the province’s phased plan,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “This reopening is contingent upon maintaining manageable COVID-19 case numbers, which means as a community we must remain diligent about protection and prevention.”

Residents and business owners are reminded the City of Lloydminster is still under a State of Local Emergency. All previously implemented restrictions and social distancing measures remain in effect. Per the Lloydminster Charter, the City of Lloydminster is compelled to abide by orders issued under the Saskatchewan Health Act.

On April 29, 2020, the reopening of the City of Lloydminster was temporarily placed on hold after the Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe announced the City had to halt its reopening until further notice.
